2nd Sanct Bernhard Sport Obertauern Trailrun Summit (OTS) from July 11 - 13, 2025

The most technically demanding and most beautiful high alpine trail run in the Eastern Alps with competitions for professionals, young trail runners, advanced runners, beginners as well as families with children, teenagers and their (grand)parents 

In line with the motto #REACHYOURPEAK, you too will learn to love the varied, flowing, technically challenging trails with magnificent 360° panoramic views in the beautiful high alpine and untouched nature around Obertauern at the 2nd Sanct Bernhard Sport Obertauern Trailrun Summit (OTS) in July 2025.

If you are a beginner who would like to try out an easier high alpine trail run and/or your children between the ages of 0 and 18 and maybe even their grandparents would like to get a taste of trail running, then the OTS in July 2025 is perfect for you. The same applies to all passionate mountain runners, since the SCARPA Seekarspitz Vertical will be organized for the first time in 2025. 
   
The OTS promises trail running variety and adventure per excellence and is a trail running festival for the whole family:
 
  • 7 competitions from Friday (Seekarspitz Vertical) to Saturday (Trail Ultra, Marathon, Short, 1/2Marathon and Easy Trail) to Sunday (Family Trail, untimed).
     
  • For beginners (Seekarspitz Vertical, Easy and Family Trail), advanced (Seekarspitz Vertical and Easy or Short or 1/2Marathon or Marathon Trail if applicable) and professionals (Seekarspitz Vertical and Short or 1/2Marathon or Marathon Trail or Trail Ultra)
     
  • For children (Easy Trail, from 12 years or born in 2013 and Family Trail, from 0 years accompanied by parents and/or grandparents or an adult, e.g. trainer)
     
  • For young people (Easy Trail, from 12 years or born in 2013 or Short Trail, from 16 years or born in 2009 and Seekarspitz Vertical, from 16 years or born in 2009)
     
  • For parents and grandparents (Family Trail up to 99 years accompanying their children and/or grandchildren)
     
  • Start at 1,738m at the top of the pass (Radstädter Tauernpass) in Obertauern and finish at 2,197m on the Panoramabahn-Bergstation (Seekarspitz Vertical)
     
  • Start and finish at 1,738m at the top of the pass (Radstädter Tauernpass) in Obertauern (Trail Ultra and Marathon, Short, 1/2Marathon, Easy Trail)
     
  • Start at 1,738m at the top of the pass (Radstädter Tauernpass) in Obertauern and 1st finish at 1,812m on the Kringsalm or 2nd finish at 1,947m on the Hochalm (Family Trail)
     
  • With 8 (Trail Ultra), 2 (Marathon Trail) and 1 (Short and 1/2 Marathon Trail) high alpine summit(s)
     
  • With technically challenging passages and easy 1st degree climbing sections as well as a longer, sloping section of terrain (Trail Ultra and Marathon Trail)
     
  • With technically demanding passages and a short 1st degree climbing section as well as a 3m long exposed section (Short and 1/2 Marathon Trail)
     
  • With easy and moderately difficult climbs, paths & natural trails as well as fast gravel & asphalt roads (all 7 competitions)
The combined start and finish area as well as the TVB Obertauern guest house (start number distribution and race office) are located directly on the Radstädter Tauernpass, a mountain pass at an altitude of 1,738m, which connects the Pongau with the Lungau and the Radstädter Tauern with the Schladminger Tauern.

Where else in the entire Eastern Alps is the start and finish area at 1,738m above sea level? Your fitness will thank you for starting at the OTS! After all, your stay in Obertauern and participation in the OTS represents sustainable altitude training with real added value thanks to the increased production of red blood cells.

The SCARPA Seekarspitz Vertical (4.6 km / 471 m up and 13 m down / 16 years and older) will kick off the event on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 5:00 pm and will celebrate its premiere in 2025. The SCARPA Seekarspitz Vertical is perfect for all mountain runners and trail runners who enjoy taking part in a short vertical with an average gradient of 10%, which is only moderately steep and therefore very easy to run.

With the 5 trail running competitions on Saturday, July 12, 2025 RAIFFEISEN Trail Ultra 8 Summits (75.7 km / 5,044 m up and down / 04:00 a.m.), SPORTSHOP SKIWORLD Marathon Trail 2 Summits (53.2 km / 3. 021 m up and down / 06:00 a.m.), MARTINI SPORTSWEAR Short Trail 1 Summit (8.7 km / 768 m up and down / 09:15 a.m.), HOTEL ALPINA 1/2Marathon Trail 1 Summit (26.0 km / 1,610 m up and down / 09:30 a.m.) and HOCHALM Easy Trail (8.0 km / 393 m up and down / from 12 years / 10:00 a.m.), we have the right route for every trail runner.

The SEEKARHAUS AND KRINGSALM Family Trail (3.0 km / 96 m up and 9 m down / 0-99 years) or (5.2 km / 293 m up and 64 m down / 0-99 years) for all running and hiking enthusiastic families with parents and children and their grandparents as well as individuals from 0-99 years who would like to get a taste of trail running atmosphere without time pressure, closes the OTS on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. The SEEKARHAUS UND KRINGSALM Family Trail is therefore not timed, but each participant will nevertheless receive a race bib and a finisher's medal for motivation and memory. Participants can decide for themselves at the 1st finish on the Kringsalm whether they want to stop or run the further 2.2 km and 197 Hm to the both lakes Krummschnabelsee and Grünwaldsee as well as to the finish on the terrace of the Hochalm, which is famous from skiing in winter time. Only the first section up to the Kringsalm is suitable for baby carriages, provided they can be lifted over a fence. Light buggies and child carriers (=Kraxen) can be used without any problems.

The OTS is a member of the iTRA and the iTRA National League Austria 2025 and is listed as a UTMB Index Race. The OTS is also part of the Austrian Speed Trail Cup 2025 of the ASTA and the Trail Youngsters Cup 2025 of the ÖLV. Finally, the Marathon and 1/2 Marathon Trail have been certified as ISF Certified Courses (“Skyrunning”) and the 1/2 Marathon, Short and Easy Trail have also been included in the WMRA World Ranking.

The OTS welcomes you and the entire trail running and mountain running community to the trail running adventure per excellence and trail running festival for the whole family: a cool get-together is guaranteed here: On the one hand, the short distances in Obertauern - many participants will be staying overnight in Obertauern, Untertauern and Tweng, the start and finish area and the TVB Obertauern guest house, which is only 150 m away, as well as the Lazy Flamingo as host for the after-race party on Saturday evening, are close together - and on the other hand, the Family Trail without timekeeping on Sunday.
